CENTR elects two new Board members at its 2021 Annual General Meeting

News 10-03-2021

CENTR is delighted to announce that last week, during its 2021 Annual General Meeting, members elected two new members to the CENTR Board of Directors (BoD): Gilles Massen (Restena Foundation) and Roelof Meijer (SIDN). They join Barbara Povše (Register.si), Philip Du Bois (DNS Belgium) and David Fowler (CIRA).

On his appointment Roelof noted that with “SIDN being one of the founding members of over 20 years ago, I consider it an honour and an opportunity to join the Board of Directors of this unique organization and in this way be able to contribute directly to the huge value it brings to its members”.

Gilles underlined that “CENTR is the place where mostly European ccTLDs come together to exchange ideas and collaborate. Through this collaboration CENTR members have become reliable partners for a solid infrastructure, part of an internet that serves its citizens. It is a privilege to join the BoD and work with such experienced colleagues and with the extremely skilled CENTR staff toward an organisation that keeps improving its value for the members”.

The CENTR Secretariat would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Board members, Danny Aerts (Internetstiftelsen) and Hilde Thunem (Norid) for their valuable and committed work over the last two years.

During the meeting, the General Assembly also had a chance to test Gather Town, a unique video-calling tool that comes close to the feeling of physical events, allowing participants to ‘bump’ into each other and chat as they use avatars to walk around a virtual conference centre. This platform allowed CENTR members to visit the BoD and Working Group Chair offices, as well as visit some members’ booths. We look forward to testing this tool further at the upcoming Members’ Days in June.
