CENTR holds its fifth Registrar Day

News 12-10-2018

On 9 October 2018, CENTR held the fifth edition of its Registrar Day in Brussels, Belgium. As in previous years, the event was a huge success, with more than 80 participants from the industry.

The speed-networking session was as fruitful as ever, and there was a chorus of sighs when the first bell rang. These sessions are key to fostering collaboration and healthy business relations between registries and registrars and are always a highlight of the day. Next on the agenda was a presentation and panel discussion on domain name market trends.

The start of the afternoon session had a strong EU policy focus, with an update on EU policy as well as presentations on ICANN’s Temporary Specification and EPDP and their impact on ccTLDs, as well as an update on CENTR’s survey results on the impact of the GDPR on its members’ WHOIS. Participants also heard about experiences selling DNS-related products and practical implementations of the work of the Registry Registrar Data Group.

During the final session of the day, registrars and registries were invited to break out into different rooms to discuss marketing strategies, improving channel relations and encouraging domain usage, before meeting back up in plenary to discuss the outcomes.

The day flew by, and left plenty of room for further discussions, in particular regarding the afternoon breakout sessions. We look forward to welcoming registrars and registries again next year!
