European registries and registrars meet and talk business at CENTR Registrar Day

News 03-10-2017

On 3 October 2017, CENTR held the fourth edition of its Registrar Day in Brussels, Belgium. The event attracted more than 100 participants from the industry and was characterized by a very full agenda to which several registries and registrars contributed.

Following its popularity in 2016, the day was kick-started by a speed-networking session, where registrars got to meet with up to six registries for 10 minutes each. Business relations are key to a successful collaboration: there’s nothing like an in-person meet-and-greet to break the ice and catch-up with (old) business partners.

The agenda was also marked by two panel discussions on crucial topics for the industry: one on changing market conditions and the other on how to bring digital identities to life through domain names. These panels were followed by presentations on business intelligence, an increasingly important aspect of the industry nowadays. Participants also got discussions going through an open mic session to address a series of specific topics at the end of the day.

Last but not least, a session was dedicated to the infamous General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which both registries and registrars are working on untangling and implementing in the most efficient and collaborative way.

Overall, the full day went by very fast and was closed in the evening by the 2017 CENTR Awards ceremony, where more than a 100 guests joined to celebrate the great collaborative work of the CENTR community.
