From 1-3 June, CENTR held its 2021 Members’ Days (formerly known as the Jamboree), a meeting that brings together the whole CENTR community for three days of cross-working group sessions and networking. This year was slightly different as the CENTR Registrar Day, which is usually held in October, was incorporated into this meeting.
Almost 200 participants gathered together from all over the world over the three days, to exchange ideas and information on a whole range of topics, from CENTR collaboration and projects, to zone file publication, legal compliance, organising meetings for registrars, supply chain security and marketing and BI for registrars. The meeting was held using gather.town, which allowed for innovative formats, notably in working on CENTR projects and a virtual speed networking session!
Peter Van Roste, General Manager of CENTR reflected that, “Where previously our CENTR Jamboree brought together the working groups, the newly formatted CENTR Members’ Days managed to bring together individuals. We broke through the walls of the working group structures and managed to have inclusive discussions on topics and issues that affect all areas in the CENTR Community. Using gather.town allowed us to mimic the more informal and random encounters which our members really crave. The speed networking between registries and registrars went especially smoothly in the virtual environment. Still, let’s hope this was the last of the big virtual meetings. The lessons we learned under these exceptional circumstances will help us to make the 2022 Members’ Days even better than ever before”.
CENTR would like to take this opportunity to thank its working group chairs and vice-chairs, as well as all the session leads, without whom this event would not have been possible! We would also like to thank all the participants who joined us from across Europe, and also from further afield, who helped recreate in part the feeling of the in-person Members’ Days.
