Dear members,
We wanted to send you news from the Administrative Working group. We had an exciting workshop in Oslo (thanks again to Unni for organising it!). Thank you again to those who attended (including remotely). You were very active, and the discussions definitely helped us develop and improve as a group.
If you missed the workshop, please read the report Lydia wrote for us (full members only). The following topics were discussed during the sessions:
- The famous “tour de table”;
- Premium names;
- Direct registrations;
- Retrospective (where do you see us as a group in 2 years / what would you like to achieve?);
- RDAP;
- Channel management: accreditations / reseller relations;
- Registry lock;
- Fake webshops.
The key feedback from the group during the retrospective was :
- The group is satisfied by the way we animate the meetings and by the atmosphere of trust within the participants;
- We love the tour de table and we would like it to be shorter and more disciplined : “also share your best failures”; J
- We think the meeting could be an opportunity to invite local registrars as external speakers;
- We decided to create two sub-groups:
- One will work on the scope of the Administrative Working Group (to avoid any overlap with other groups)
- A task force is being launched to make a registry maturity model, from an admin point of view.
5 excellent reasons to attend our next meeting in February (and all the next ones):
- Many interesting topics are already scheduled: abuse management tools, registrar portals, registrar segmentation & profile, how to do business with registrars & resellers, name changes and mergers in the market, … BUT feel free to propose your own topics!
- Whilst we cherish PowerPoint-free and laptop-free sessions, breakout sessions, world cafés and discussions and demos of tools, we also accept presentations with PowerPoint. Suggest topics you would like to discuss or questions you would like to ask to the group (often, the best session just comes out of a question asked by a member during the meeting).
- It is great that so many registries are already represented at the meetings, and we all agree with the fact that it would be even better if more ccTLDs attended to share and discuss with us. New faces were here for the 1st time this year, join us and meet them!
- Our social events are precious moments for networking where you can chat directly with the other members: it is the perfect opportunity to ask questions, share your current projects or discuss about registrars’ relations (and contact sharing).
- Warsaw in February is a fantastic city and the guys from NASK are awesome! (Hint: DO NOT FORGET your: scarf, hat, gloves, warm coat… )”
