The Internet Governance landscape
CENTR has published a paper on the topic of Internet Governance. The paper provides an analytical and historical account of the Internet Governance landscape including many of the contributing elements to the global dialogue, such as;

.ir (Iran) tops CENTR member Highest Growth for 2013
According to the CENTR stat database, the ccTLD .ir (Iran) has experienced the highest growth among CENTR full members for 2013. The ccTLD saw a high growth of over 47% over the 12 month period. Other high growth members for the period include .pt - Portugal (16.4%), .ru Russia (15.5%) and .is Iceland (12.9%).

.ee domain price lowered from January 2014
The Estonian Internet Foundation will lower the price of a .ee domain by 20% from 1 January 2014, i.e. down to €12.
.ee domains can be registered for one, two or three years. The domain fee is €12, €23 or €33 in 2014, depending on the length of the registration period.
These are the domain registration prices that the Estonian Internet Foundation will charge from registrars. The price for the registrant is determined by the registrars. VAT will be added to the fee.


.ee domains can be protected using the DNSSEC

.eu extends to EEA countries from 8 January 2014
Residents, companies and organisations based in the European Economic Area (EEA) countries of Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway will also be eligible to register domain names under the .eu top-level domain from 8 January 2014.
This decision by the European Commission follows up on the provision contained in the original .eu regulation (EC 733/2002), which foresaw the extension of .eu to the European Economic Area.

CENTR has published a comprehensive report from the recent 48th ICANN Meeting held in Buenos Aires. The report covers the ccNSO, the GNSO and GAC sessions as well as detailing special sessoins relating to Internet Governance which was a common theme to the conference.

Nominet ushers in new era for .uk namespace
Nominet announced updates on a range of new initiatives and projects designed to help the company evolve the .uk namespace and improve standards in the face of a rapidly changing internet landscape, as first outlined in June 2013. These are:
- - The introduction of second level domain names in the .uk namespace – for the first time, shorter, simpler ‘example.uk’ domain names will be available alongside ‘example.co.uk’, ‘example.org.uk’ and so on.
- - The development of initiatives that will enhance the security of the UK namespace, and contribute to the security of the web as a whole.
- - A revised draft of the Registrar Agreement, which rewards those meeting highest standards of service, is now published and open for comment.
- - A proposed Data Quality policy – the company’s first – has been published and is open for comment.
